#1 Mistake Worship Leaders Make, and How to Avoid IT

So just what is the number one mistake worship leaders make? How did we miss it? The answer: Taking care of our physical bodies. As lead worshipers we can get so caught up in all the aspects of the ministry that we just simply let this area slip by. But believe me this is a very important step in preparing for worship. In fact it’s important for ministry and life period.

Scripture tells us that when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, The Holy Spirit comes to live within us. In fact our bodies become the temple of the Holy Spirit. Knowing that fact, it should be a God honoring priority for us to take care of our physical bodies.

How do we do that?

By exercising, eating well, and getting plenty rest. If we neglect any of these, our health will suffer. Which in turn will cause our service and our ministry to suffer.

To use a sports analogy: We practice and prepare through the week. Sunday, or whenever you service is, is game day!

Not to say in any way that church is a game or that we are performers, nothing could be further from the truth.

My point is this,

You must be prepared to give God your best! You must be in good health, to give your best. God deserves nothing less!

I have type 1 diabetes, so my health is # 2 only behind my relationship with Christ on my priority list. Neglecting my heath would be dishonoring to the God who created me, to my family, and to the ministry.

Try to do some sort of physical exercise 3 – 4 times a week. Whether it’s weight training, running, swimming, cycling, or whatever. Just get moving. Your body will love you for it. And you will be honoring God.

Eat a well balanced diet. I know this can be tough since we can be on the run so much. Food is the fuel for our body. If you put junk food in it, it will run like junk. Work at eating a well balance diet, so your body will perform at its best.

Try to get 7-8 hours of good sleep every day. I know some people can operate on less, some need more. But the point is, while you sleep your body refuels and repairs itself, neglect it, and your body will suffer. You need to be alert, clearheaded and well rested. Especially when leading.

Take care of your body. It’s the temple of the Holy Spirit. Exercise, eat well and be well rested. Honor God!

How To Make A Topiary Tree

A topiary tree is a small decorative tree, used to decorate rooms. They are often used in corners (or arch-ways), of halls or rooms, to help “finish off” the room. They are frequently used at special occasions, because they add a lot of glitz and glamour to the room. (In particular, topiary trees are very common at weddings).

Topiary trees don’t have to be a plant- you can often make them based on a theme. For example, at my wedding, I used two candy topiary trees, and placed them near the bridal party.

These were a lot of fun to make, and doubled up as my wedding favors as well! I did this to make things easier on myself- it saved me wrapping up 93 gifts for people!

Topiary trees are simple and easy to make, and are great for almost any event. In the past, I’ve used topiary trees at childrens parties, birthday parties, dinner parties, and other special events.

To make a topiary tree, you will need:

• A foam ball.
• Some candy of your choice.
• A pot (the size you need will be based on the size of foam ball you use).
• A piece of dowel.
• Colored patty-pans.
• Some plaster-of-paris (for filling the pot).
• Some pebbles (for decoration).
• Curling ribbon.

To get started on the topiary tree, push the foam ball on the piece of dowel, so that it makes a hole in the ball. Make sure that you push on it enough, so it will stay once the candy and other things are added.

Once you have made the hole, remove the foam ball as it is easier to work with ball on a table, rather than when it is on the dowel.

If you are using chocolates or hard lollies, then wire them, or attach them to a skewer.

Turn your patty-pans inside out, so that you have the colored sides showing. Push your lollipop sticks through the patty-pans, and then into the ball. Continue this process until the whole ball is covered with candy.

Then take some pieces of curling ribbon and tie them around the lollipop, near the head. Use medium-length ribbon so that it will hang down nicely.

If you have gaps in-between the patty-pans, then fill them in with some wired curling ribbon. If you have any gaps near the hole in the ball, you can cover these in the same way.

The next step in making the topiary tree, is to wrap some of the curling ribbon down the piece of dowel. (Or you could paint the dowel).

Place the dowel in the pot, and set it there with the plaster-of-paris.

Slide the ball on top of the dowel.

Place some pebbles in the top of the topiary pot to cover the plaster-of-paris.

That’s it! You’ve made a topiary tree!

As you can see, they are really quite simple to make. You’ll find that children will love to help out, and even if they don’t, you can guarantee they will help with eating the topiary tree afterwards!

Incredible Hulk

“How do I know I won’t keep changing?” an anguished Dr. Bruce Banner asked himself in one issue of the Incredible Hulk comics. “Into that brutal, bestial mockery of a human – that creature which fears nothing – which soon despises reason and worships power! Soon, the sun will set again~ And here I sit helplessly, fearing I may again become the Hulk!”

Poor Dr. Banner’s anguish began when he was performing bomb tests. Seeing teenager Rick Jones driving towards the test site, Banner rushed to stop him and in the process was affected by gamma rays. While Rick Jones was unaffected, Banner began to transform into the Hulk.

Originally, Banner’s transformations were triggered by the rise and fall of the sun. Later, his transformation would be triggered by emotions, most notably anger.

Sometimes grey, sometimes green, the Hulk debuted in 1962, but soon faced cancellation. The character did not enjoy a successful solo run until the 1970s. During his solo series, Banner gave his cousin, Jennifer Walters, a transfusion, leading her to become the She-Hulk. This in turn added even more guilt to the Hulk’s already burdened conscience.

In the 1980s and 1990s, a major arc was introduced that explored the possibility that Dr. Banner had been mentally ill before getting hit with the gamma rays. In an effort to explain his Hulk persona (the one who offered such fun phrases as “Puny humans! Hulk smash!”) writers introduced the theory that Banner had been abused as a child. As a result, Banner had suffered from Dissociative Identity Disorder, his mind’s way to try to deal with the abuse. The gamma rays merely magnified those problems. During this time, Banner underwent hypnosis as a way to combine the Hulk parts of his personality with the calmer Banner part. The result was a Hulk that was more cunning, powerful, and intelligent than before.

In the 2006 story, “Planet Hulk,” the Illuminati, a group of covert superhero leaders, decided that the Hulk was a potential risk to Earth that needed to be eliminated. Thus, they sent him into space to live on a planet uninhabited by other sentient life. The ship malfunctioned, however, and landed on the planet Sakaar.

Sakaar was a violent planet, which seemed to fit Hulk’s personality. After being captured, Hulk became a leader of the rebels and eventually rose to emperor status. But his happiness was short lived, as his rocket exploded, killing his pregnant lover, Caiera and destroying the planet.

A vengeful Hulk returned to Earth, determined to make the Illuminati pay for what they had done. Tragically, however, Hulk found out that it was one of his own allies that destroyed his ship and he was taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D.

Decide Who You Want To Buy For

Make a list of the people you want to buy gifts for: Recipients. Keep it with you as a reminder, or at the least, keep it in your head. Open your eyes and window shop. When you see something you know you like, go ahead and buy it. And think outside the box. When you shop all year, you have the opportunity to do this. Every Christmas gift doesn’t have to be a sweater or winter-type gift.

Shop From Home

Shop on the Internet. Have fun and explore. Many gift sites run promotionals off-and-on year round. When you’re not under pressure to buy immediately, you have time to “window shop”. And don’t forget to keep your gift list in front of you.

Record What You Buy

Make a list of the gifts that you buy: Gifts Purchased. Each time you make a gift purchase, whether it’s on the Internet or in the store, put it on the list. If you know specifically to whom you are giving it, put his or her name next to it. Go back to your Recipients list and write the name of the gift next to the person you are giving it to. You now have a cross-reference. Sound too complicated and organized? It’s not. It’s really easy. If you don’t make some kind of notes, you’ll get real confused when it comes time to wrap. You won’t remember who was supposed to get what.

Buy Decorations In The Off-Season

Buy Christmas decorations year-round on the Internet. And in the off-season you can get them at reduced prices. Buy your decorations all year and when the Christmas season arrives, you’ll be ready.

Wrap Sooner Not Later

As soon as Christmas wrapping paper is placed on the shelves, start selecting and buying. By this time, you should have a shelf full of presents to wrap. Wrap at your leisure; a few at a time or all at once. Just enjoy it. You have time to make the presents look outstanding. Give them that added decorative touch that will make the recipient feel special and give you the opportunity to be creative.

Record What You Wrap

You have two lists to cross-reference. Check off or make changes as necessary. If you didn’t make a list, you should make one now. Don’t make the mistake I made one year. I got all my wrapping done early, and by the time Christmas came, I couldn’t remember what I was giving everyone or exactly what it looked like. I remember wishing I had a digital camera. I could have taken pictures of the presents before wrapping them. I don’t have to worry about that now. I have a list and a digital camera.

Collect Recipes

Don’t wait until you have to prepare a dish for a party to decide what you want to make. Start collecting recipes from magazines and friends. But don’t stop there. You have plenty of times to try them out. Put stars beside the ones you especially like and will be proud to serve. When the time comes, it will be fast and easy to make choices.

Christmas can be a pleasure, even before the season begins. Enjoy your window-shopping whether it’s in the stores or on the Internet. But be ready to buy when you see something you like. Make your choices wisely and keep up with your lists. Following this plan will be a great stress reliever come Christmas time. Have fun and keep on enjoying Christmas.

All these comments are not just any words. They are Powerful words that when you attune yourself to them your consciousness will provide your desire for you. Your job is to stick to your intention and give it plenty of attention. Persevere through the imaginary Doubts, Worries and Fears.

Make FAITH your best friend. DIVINE FAITH is always available for you, for it is eternal. Keep on repeating your affirmations daily to really become one with your words.

Once upon a time you have chosen to be separate from your Godly attributes and again and again you can choose to become one again. The Power is in your hands to provide for yourself and others.

Be Gentle with yourself and you will gain much satisfaction. As your Soul is really gentle and special, be one with your True Nature. Creating Oneness inside and out is your call for today if you choose it. For you are so worthy and deserving of living this life within the realms of all possibilities.
